Three people were fatally shot Saturday night in a violent attack on Cincinnati’s West Side, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation by local authorities.
According to the Cincinnati Police Department, officers assigned to District Three responded to reports of gunfire in the 2200 block of Millvale Court at approximately 10:40 p.m. on June 20. When officers arrived, they discovered three victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency response efforts, all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the deceased as 38-year-old Kenneth Burton, 53-year-old Theresa Dudley, and 41-year-old Brenea Burton. Authorities have not released information regarding the relationships among the victims, though several social media users have claimed that the individuals were cousins. Officials have not confirmed those reports.
Investigators have also not disclosed any information regarding a suspect, possible motive, or circumstances leading up to the shooting. Detectives spent several hours processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses as they worked to piece together what occurred.
The fatal shooting has left residents of the neighborhood shaken as police continue searching for answers in one of the city’s latest homicide cases.
The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and is urging anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, to come forward. Detectives believe community assistance could prove critical in identifying those responsible and determining what led to the deadly incident.
