The Kiefer community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Talan Chesser, an 18-year-old recent graduate of Kiefer High School, who died following a vehicle crash that also left his mother injured.
News of Chesser’s passing was shared Wednesday morning by Kiefer Public Schools Superintendent Randy Shaw, who remembered the young graduate as an exceptional student, dedicated athlete, and active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA).
“Talan was an outstanding representative of Kiefer,” Shaw said in a statement, noting that counselors would be available at the school’s Ag Building to support students, staff, and community members grieving the loss.
According to a social media statement from Beggs High School, Chesser and his family were involved in a serious car accident Tuesday evening. The school reported that Talan succumbed to his injuries and passed away Wednesday morning. His mother was also injured in the crash, though additional details regarding her condition have not been publicly released.
The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of condolences from classmates, teachers, friends, and agricultural organizations that knew Talan well. Members of the Kiefer FFA chapter described him as a young man whose personality and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
“Talan was the kind of person who could light up any room,” the organization said in a tribute. The chapter also highlighted his recent achievement of earning his State FFA Degree in May, one of the organization’s highest honors for student members.
Throughout his time at Kiefer High School, Chesser was known for his involvement in FFA and basketball, earning respect from peers and educators alike. Friends remember him as hardworking, kind-hearted, and always willing to encourage others. His dedication to his school and community helped make him a role model among fellow students.
