The Decatur, Illinois, community is mourning the tragic death of Jaquincia Comage, 20, whose body was discovered Tuesday near a riverbank in rural Vermilion County.
Jaquincia, a Decatur resident, was identified by the Vermilion County Coroner after authorities responded to a report involving an unoccupied vehicle found stranded in a flooded ditch near Fithian, Illinois.
According to information released by the Illinois State Police, authorities were called to an area near Route 49 and County Road 2100 North at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday following reports of a vehicle located in a ditch. Investigators said the vehicle had sustained water damage, leading first responders to search the surrounding area for anyone who may have been connected to the vehicle.
During the search, authorities discovered Jaquincia’s body near a nearby riverbank. Her unexpected passing has left family, friends, and members of the Decatur community facing an unimaginable loss.
