Jackson, Mississippi: Police are investigating two separate homicide cases that occurred on Thursday, August 20, 2026, leaving two people dead and raising concerns throughout the community.
The first incident occurred on Interstate 220 near the Highway 80 West off-ramp, where officers discovered a tan Ford Crown Victoria in a ditch. According to police, the driver, identified as Bobby Potts, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
Later that same evening, another deadly shooting was reported in the 3000 block of Greenview Drive. Police identified the victim as Jaylen Adams, 28, who was fatally shot in the incident.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into both cases as detectives work to determine what led to the shootings and identify those responsible.
At this time, no suspects have been identified in either homicide, and police have not released additional details regarding possible motives or connections between the two incidents.
