The Natchitoches Parish community is mourning the tragic and untimely loss of Damarion Deshawn Tyrell Lewis, 18, who was fatally shot late Wednesday night, April 1, 2026.
The deadly incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Independence Street, near Highway 494 in the Vienna Bend area. Deputies arriving on the scene found Lewis suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds inside the residence. Despite immediate life-saving measures and transport to a local hospital, he was later airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport due to the severity of his injuries. Tragically, Lewis passed away around 2:50 a.m., marking the first homicide in Natchitoches Parish for the year.
Investigators reported that the shooter(s) fled the scene before deputies arrived. Evidence collected included multiple shell casings found near the home, which itself sustained damage from the shooting. Law enforcement continues to follow leads and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
Damarion was more than a victim of this senseless act of violence — he was a beloved member of the community, a cherished friend, and a young man with his whole life ahead of him. His family, friends, and neighbors are left grieving his sudden passing, remembering his spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
As the investigation continues, Damarion’s family faces this unimaginably difficult time. His life, though tragically cut short, will be remembered and honored by all who knew him.
