According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 54-year-old James Johnson exited his disabled SUV in an attempt to push it off the roadway when a Freightliner tractor-trailer struck the vehicle from behind.
The impact pushed the SUV into Johnson, leaving him injured. Two passengers inside the vehicle—Holly Williams of Howell, Michigan, and her 11-year-old child—suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
