With heavy hearts, family members, friends, and the South Memphis community are mourning the tragic loss of a man whose life was cut short in a shooting at Jesse Turner Park, while another victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
According to the Memphis Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of Bellevue Boulevard on Monday morning after receiving reports of gunfire at Jesse Turner Park. Upon arrival, officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, one of the victims later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, identified as Fatcheeze Louise, remains hospitalized in critical condition as he continues to receive treatment.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery. Detectives are actively working to determine the events leading up to the incident and identify those responsible.
The fatal shooting has left loved ones devastated and the South Memphis community grieving another senseless act of violence. As family members mourn the loss of one victim and others pray for the recovery of the surviving victim, tributes and messages of support continue to pour in from across the community.
