Brett Gregory Wildman (Nov. 20, 1967 – June 27, 2026) of Sangudo, Alberta, has died at the age of 58. His family confirmed his passing, while no cause of death has been publicly released.
Born in Calgary and raised in rural Alberta, Wildman developed an early connection to cattle, horses, and agricultural life. He attended Sheep Creek School and grew up working in the Millarville and Sangudo regions, where he learned the values of hard work and livestock handling that shaped his future.
He became one of Canada’s most respected cattle judges, working across shows including Agribition, Farmfair, Denver, and Toronto. Known for fairness and deep knowledge of Red Angus cattle, Wildman built a reputation for integrity in the show ring and mentorship in the livestock community.
He married Traci in 1992, and together they built Wildman Livestock in Sangudo, Alberta, developing a respected Red Angus breeding program. The couple previously worked with leading ranch operations and later returned home to manage and grow their herd, earning recognition for multiple championship cattle lines.
He also served in leadership roles within the Canadian Angus Association, including as president, reflecting his commitment to advancing the cattle industry in Canada. Beyond formal roles, he contributed to northern ice road logistics and livestock operations, expanding his expertise into heavy equipment and northern infrastructure projects.
Friends and family remember Wildman as a dependable, humble, and highly skilled problem-solver who was always willing to help without seeking recognition. Whether on the ranch, in the show ring, or in the field, he was known for his quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering work ethic.
He is survived by his wife Traci, daughter Paige, and extended family who continue to honor his legacy. Funeral arrangements have not yet been publicly announced. His influence will continue through the cattle he bred and the many people he mentored across North America.
