Born Brittany Ann Ransom on May 9, 1991, in Decorah, Iowa, to Lisa and Chris Ransom, she moved with her family to Brandon, Mississippi, when she was two years old. She graduated from Brandon High School in 2009 before beginning her nursing education at Mississippi College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013. Driven by a passion for growth and excellence, Brittany later achieved her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in healthcare administration, reflecting her dedication to advancing healthcare leadership.
Brittany devoted much of her professional life to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). Her healthcare journey began through an externship with Children’s of Mississippi while she was still a nursing student. After becoming a registered nurse in 2013, she continued building an impressive career through multiple leadership roles, including floor nurse, nurse educator, nurse manager, and manager of Volunteer Services.
Throughout her time at UMMC, Brittany played an important role in improving patient care and supporting healthcare teams. She contributed to the opening of two new hospital floors and was recognized as Mississippi Nurse Educator of the Year for her exceptional dedication to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring the next generation of nurses.
Beyond her professional achievements, Brittany will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and woman of deep Christian faith. Those who knew her describe someone who led with kindness, humility, and genuine care for others. Her ability to encourage, guide, and uplift people left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
