It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we remember and honor the life of Oscar Todd, a talented young man whose life was tragically cut short following an accident in North Queensland, Australia. At just 25 years old, Oscar’s passing on April 6 has left an immeasurable void in the lives of his family, friends, and the wider community who knew and admired him.
Oscar was a remarkable individual whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and inspiration to those around him. A proud Old Boy of The King’s School, he joined in Year 6 as part of the final cohort of Prep Boarders at Gowan Brae and later became a respected member of Macarthur Waddy. His leadership qualities were evident to all, culminating in his role as a House Monitor in his final year—an honor that reflected the trust and respect he earned from both his peers and mentors.
Deeply connected to his school and family legacy, Oscar carried forward a proud tradition. His father, Roger, along with his older brother Louis and extended family, all shared a meaningful bond with The King’s School. Oscar embraced that legacy with humility and pride, leaving his own lasting mark on the institution and those within it.
Oscar’s talents were as diverse as they were impressive. He was a gifted visual artist, expressing creativity and imagination in all he pursued. On the field and in the water, he shone as a dedicated sportsman—representing the 4th XV in rugby and powering the 1st IV rowing crew at the prestigious Head of the River. His commitment, teamwork, and determination defined his athletic pursuits, while his quiet strength and steady presence uplifted those around him.
Beyond his achievements, Oscar will be remembered most for his character. He was kind, grounded, and full of gentle humor. As a Staff Sergeant in The King’s School Cadet Corps Quartermaster Platoon, he served with pride and responsibility, embodying discipline and leadership. He was a loyal friend, a devoted son and brother, and a young man who made others feel valued and supported.
