The Levelland community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Deven Ponce, a 2026 Levelland High School graduate who was known by many as No. 50 on the football field and remembered for so much more by the people whose lives he touched.
Deven was a dedicated member of the Levelland Lobos football program, where he played on both the offensive and defensive lines. During his senior season, he recorded an impressive 47 tackles, four sacks, and six quarterback pressures, showing the commitment, strength, and determination he brought to the game.
But to those who knew him best, Deven was more than an athlete. He was a son, friend, teammate, and loved one whose presence brought meaning to the lives of family members, classmates, coaches, and friends.
News of Deven’s passing on Sunday brought an outpouring of sadness and support from the Levelland community. Former teammates and friends have been sharing memories, offering prayers, and reflecting on the impact he made during his life.
