The Ravenna community is grieving the tragic loss of Connie S. Edens, 78, and Donald A. Edens, 70, who were found deceased at their home in Ravenna Township on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence on the 4000 block of Summit Road at approximately 3:18 PM. Upon arrival, deputies received no response from the occupants. While observing the home, they saw an individual slumped over in a chair inside the living room. Due to urgent circumstances, deputies made forced entry. Inside, they discovered both Connie and Donald deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates that Connie sustained a single gunshot wound to the back, while Donald suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Connie and Donald were cherished by family, friends, and neighbors alike. Connie was remembered for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her loved ones, while Donald was known for his humor, generosity, and the positive impact he had on those around him. Their sudden and tragic passing has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew them.
Sheriff Bruce D. Zuchowski expressed his condolences, stating, “This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected. Our detectives are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. We remain committed to a thorough and complete investigation to ensure answers are obtained.”
