The Farmville community is grieving the sudden and tragic loss of Johnny Reamer, who was killed early Sunday morning in a fatal tractor-trailer crash along Interstate 295 northbound near mile marker 26.1 in Henrico County.
Emergency crews with Henrico Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene around 5:05 a.m. Authorities reported that the tractor-trailer had gone over an embankment and into a wooded area. Upon arrival, responders found Reamer heavily entrapped inside the vehicle. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash has caused major delays, with the northbound center lane, right lane, and right shoulder remaining closed. Traffic backups have reached approximately 1.5 miles, and authorities are urging drivers to use caution and seek alternate routes while recovery and cleanup operations continue.
The incident involved coordinated efforts from Virginia State Police, VDOT, Orleans Co. Tree Service, and a heavy wrecker to safely recover the vehicle.
