The Hernando County community is mourning the tragic loss of Francis Biegaj, 52, who was fatally shot at his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at approximately 4:31 p.m. by a family member who reported that Francis was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. Emergency personnel arrived immediately and began life-saving measures. Despite these efforts, Francis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Investigators reported that shell casings were found in the driveway, and a witness observed the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Tony Deuser, walking away from the scene with a pistol. Deputies later established a perimeter at Deuser’s residence on 89 Gillian Circle. After multiple attempts, the Hernando County SWAT and Crisis Response Team took Deuser into custody without incident. During questioning, Deuser stated that he became upset with Francis over loud music and shot him twice after being asked to leave the property. Deuser has been charged with Second-Degree Murder and is held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Francis Biegaj is remembered as a devoted father, loving family member, and valued member of his community. His sudden and violent death has left a profound void for all who knew him.
