The Allenstown and Hooksett communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jeremiah Willey, 25, who was identified as the victim recovered from the Merrimack River following an extensive search.
According to New Hampshire State Police, search efforts resumed around 8 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026, after being suspended overnight due to darkness. At approximately 9:15 a.m., members of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Dive Team located and recovered Jeremiah’s body from the river.
Investigators believe Jeremiah accidentally fell into the Merrimack River while on a railroad bridge near Riverside Street in Hooksett. A witness reported seeing him struggling to stay above the surface before he went under and did not resurface.
Multiple agencies worked tirelessly throughout the search, including the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, State Troopers, the Fish and Game Dive Team, and local Hooksett police and fire crews. Boats equipped with side-scan sonar and divers were used to carefully search the area until he was found.
Authorities stated that Jeremiah’s death is not considered suspicious, though the incident remains under investigation.
