A tragic dirt bike crash at a motocross facility in Fort Ann has claimed the life of a 62-year-old Beacon man, leaving the racing community and loved ones mourning a sudden and devastating loss.

According to New York State Police, troopers responded around 10:42 a.m. on April 18, 2026, to a motocross track along Route 149 after receiving a report of a severely injured rider following a crash.

Investigators determined that 62-year-old Nicholas Milohnic of Beacon was riding on the track when the incident occurred. Authorities said Milohnic was navigating a jump when he was thrown from his dirt bike, suffering critical injuries in the impact.

Bystanders at the scene immediately rushed to help and began lifesaving efforts before emergency medical services arrived. Despite their rapid response and continued attempts to save him, Milohnic tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities described the moment as sudden and devastating, with fellow riders and spectators witnessing the tragic incident unfold in real time.

New York State Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing; however, the crash currently does not appear to be suspicious. Officials are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine exactly what led to the fatal fall.
