A Brewer woman lost her life Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 95 in Newburgh, according to Maine State Police.
Authorities identified the victim as 58-year-old Darcel Geiser of Brewer. The crash occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 95 near mile marker 174.
According to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, Geiser was traveling in the passing lane when her vehicle suddenly left the roadway and rolled over multiple times. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and worked to extricate her from the wreckage.
Officials said Geiser was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Despite rescue efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and no additional injuries were reported.
