Authorities have identified the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Hartford as Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez.
According to police, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. in the area of Ledyard Street, just south of Wawarme Avenue. Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found Ortiz-Benitez suffering from critical injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision.
Police have not released details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash, including whether the driver remained at the scene or if any charges are anticipated. Investigators are working to determine the events that resulted in the fatal collision.
The area was temporarily closed while officers documented the scene, gathered evidence, and conducted a preliminary investigation.
