Jamal Henry Summerton, SC Car Accident: Pedestrian Identified in Accident 410 Today on Paxville Highway

The Clarendon County community is mourning the tragic loss of Jamal Henry, a 44-year-old Summerton resident who died after being struck by a pickup truck on Paxville Highway late Friday night.

Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified Henry as the pedestrian involved in the fatal collision, which occurred on Friday, June 26, at approximately 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Paxville Highway and Raccoon Road in Clarendon County, South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Ford F-150 was traveling west on Paxville Highway when it struck Henry, who was walking north across or along the roadway. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly to the scene and transported Henry to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, Henry later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Authorities have announced that an autopsy is scheduled to take place this week at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston as part of the ongoing investigation.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Officials have not released additional information regarding potential contributing factors or whether any charges are expected.

News of Henry’s passing has saddened family members, friends, and members of the Summerton community, who are remembering him as they cope with the sudden and heartbreaking loss.
