On July 5th, the Sterling, Illinois community mourns the loss of Zakita Ivory Lira-Lerma, who tragically passed away at a very young age. Born on April 14, 2026, Zakita was a bright light in the lives of her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Despite her brief time with us, she left an indelible mark filled with love, joy, and innocence.
Her infectious smile and tender spirit brought comfort and happiness to those around her, and her memory will remain a treasured part of her family’s hearts forever. Dakota’s passing has deeply affected her parents, Jessie and Okita, who are now faced with the overwhelming challenge of saying goodbye to their beloved daughter. In response, a fundraiser has been established to support the family during this profoundly difficult time.
The funds will assist with funeral expenses and provide some relief as they navigate their grief and healing process.
