A tragic mining accident in Central Queensland has claimed the life of one worker and left another seriously injured after a heavy mining truck collided with a light vehicle at the Peak Downs coal mine. According to emergency officials, the accident occurred early Friday morning at the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) Peak Downs Mine, located near Moranbah in the Bowen Basin, one of Australia’s largest coal-producing regions. Initial reports indicate that a large mining truck struck or rolled over a light vehicle carrying two workers while both vehicles were operating within the mine site.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 5:00 a.m. Upon arrival, responders found one worker trapped inside the light vehicle.
