The Traverse City community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Wilder William Seeburger, 17, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating vehicle collision on Old Mission Peninsula.
Wilder died on August 16, 2026, after a head-on crash on Center Road. According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. between Mapleton and Smokey Hollow Road. Authorities said a southbound Ford F-250 crossed the centerline and struck the Honda CR-V Wilder was driving.
Traverse City Central High School confirmed that Wilder was the student who lost his life in the crash, leaving classmates, teachers, and the entire school community grieving an unimaginable loss.
Those closest to Wilder remembered him as a loving son, cousin, and friend whose presence brought happiness and meaning to the lives of the people around him. His family described him as their “beautiful boy,” sharing the deep love they had for him and the impact he made during his 17 years of life.
Wilder was the only son of his mother, Felicia Topp, who described him as her entire world. For his family, the loss represents a pain that words cannot fully express as they face the days ahead without him.
Friends, classmates, and community members are now coming together to honor Wilder’s memory and support those who loved him most. They are holding onto the moments they shared with him, the friendships he built, and the joy he brought into their lives.
